The long development time on The Flash has seen countless changes, including a half-dozen directors come and go, and actor Billy Crudup leave and likely rejoin the cast as Henry Allen. As with so many other elements of the film, the role of Iris West was up in the air, but The Hollywood Reporter says Kiersey Clemons is going to return to the role in the upcoming The Flash solo movie.
Clemons has signed on to The Flash opposite Ezra Miller after some potential scheduling conflicts. Clemons played the role in scenes deleted from 2017’s Justice League before Snyder left the project. With the upcoming Zack Snyder’s Justice League, however, her scenes have been restored to the film.
The schedule issues arose from Clemons becoming an in-demand actor. She has two Sundance hits to her name in the form of Dope and Hearts Beat Loud. She has also worked on Lady and the Tramp, Amazon’s The Only Living Boy in New York and Universal’s Sweetheart.
The Flash is quickly assembling a massive cast. Miller is signed on to play the Scarlet Speedster and he will be joined by Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck playing their respective versions of Batman. Andy Muschietti (IT) is directing from a script by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey). Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco are producing, while Marianne Jenkins will serve as an executive producer.
The Flash is set to hit theaters on Nov. 4, 2022.
