The Flash Star Says Caitlin/Cisco Story Will 'Break Fans' Hearts' - CBR - Comic Book Resources

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The Flash Season 7, Episode 8, "The People v. Killer Frost," which aired Tuesday on The CW.

The Flash star Danielle Panabaker is teasing a heart-breaking Season 7 storyline featuring the original Team Flash trio: Barry Allen, Cisco Ramon and her own character Caitlin Snow.

“Episode 12 is one of my favorites this season -- and one of the hardest," Panabaker told TVLine, responding to a reader's question about what lies ahead for Caitlin in Season 7. "It’s a great Barry/Cisco/Caitlin storyline, and I’m excited for fans to see that one. But I think it will break their heart a little bit, too.”

After years of sharing the same body, Caitlin and her meta-human half Frost were separated by a blast from Mirror Mistress' Mirror Gun near the beginning of The Flash Season 7. Some time later, however, Frost was arrested for her previous crimes at the behest of Kristen Kramer, a liaison from the governor's Municipal Logistics Commission who has her own dark history with meta-humans. Upon nearly being forced to take the meta-human cure against her will, Frost instead struck a deal with her judge to serve life in prison without parole, leaving Caitlin to live on her own once more.

Sadly, it looks like Caitlin's woes are only just getting started. It was recently confirmed Cisco actor Carlos Valdes will leave The Flash at the end of Season 7, joining his fellow longtime costar Tom Cavanagh. But while the show has already reduced Cavanagh to recurring guest star status for Season 7, it's unclear how the series will bid farewell to Cisco -- not to mention, whether his departure will be directly connected to the story Panabaker mentioned.

"Tom and Carlos have been an integral part of our show for seven seasons, and will be greatly missed," The Flash executive producer/showrunner Eric Wallace said, following the announcement of their departure. "Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love. Which is why we are happily keeping the door open for return appearances."

The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
