The Flash Movie Set Photo Shows Ezra Miller's Actor Chair - Screen Rant

Director Andy Muschietti has shared a photo from the set of the long-in-development DC Extended Universe Flash movie showing the chair for Ezra Miller's Barry Allen. Influenced by Geoff Johns' iconic "Flashpoint" comics arc, the story will see the titular hero travel back in time in an effort to save his mother from being murdered, only to create major ripples in his timeline when returning to the present. Miller is set to lead a cast that will see the returns of the DCEU's Ben Affleck and Kiersey Clemons as well as Michael Keaton's Batman and the introductions of Sasha Calle's Supergirl and Maribel Verdú's Nora Allen.

Development on the film was first announced in mid 2013 on the heels of the success of the inaugural DCEU installment, Man of Steel. Though initially set to be released in 2016, the film languished in development hell as a number of writers and directors departed the project due to creative differences, including Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein until Muschietti eventually signed on in November 2019 to direct a script from Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson. The return of Keaton's Batman was rumored and circulated for two months before finally being confirmed in August 2020 with the announcement Affleck would also return in an effort to introduce the concept of the multiverse to general film audiences.

As filming continues on The Flash, Muschietti took to Instagram to show off the photo of Miller's chair from the set of the DCEU title. Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff also showed her excitement for the film with a comment full of thunderbolts akin to the titular hero's iconic logo. While a better look at Miller in the Flash suit or one of the Batmen would be better appreciated by fans, the simple revelation that The Flash filming is still continuing should satiate audiences. Given the elongated development cycle and constant rewrites and staff changes it underwent, the mere confirmation that nothing is keeping this train from rolling on is enough satisfaction for those who have been wanting to see Miller's iteration of Barry return to the big screen. But with production roughly halfway through and Muschietti a filmmaker who loves to directly interact with his followers, there's certainly a chance more exciting photos could come soon enough.

Though fans may be concerned about the plan to adapt "Flashpoint" in any capacity this early on in his film cycle, the returns of both Affleck and Keaton as the Dark Knight should be enticing enough to bring audiences back to the theaters when The Flash races to theaters in November 2022. Plus, with Sasha Calle in the role of Supergirl, Warner Bros. might be able to finally get their similarly long-in-development solo film for the Kryptonian off the ground. In the meantime, for those jonesing for Miller's heroic efforts, Zack Snyder's Justice League is currently streaming on HBO Max.
