The Flash Season 7 Reveals Its Big Bad Is Nora Allen | CBR - CBR - Comic Book Resources

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The Flash Season 7, Episode 8, "The People v. Killer Frost," which aired Tuesday on The CW.

While the television crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earths" had the unintended side effect of destroying the Speed Force, The Flash Season 7 began with Team Flash able to evidently revive it, with the extra-dimensional entity taking on the physical form and name of Barry Allen's deceased mother, Nora. However, the rebirth of the Speed Force resulted in other Forces surfacing across Central City, including the Still Force, Strength Force and Sage Force, with the conflict brewing between the Forces revealing Season 7's primary antagonist: The Speed Force itself.

Earlier in the season, the Flash and Abra Kadabra were attacked by the conduit of the Strength Force in the form of a monstrously powerful woman using the moniker Fuerza, and Kadabra was killed in the battle. Later, Team Flash was menaced by the Sage Force conduit Psych and Still Force conduit Deon Owens, with the former insisting that they are not truly enemies. This sudden rise in rival Forces visibly unnerves Nora, who urges that Barry join her battling the other entities, convinced that her counterparts are working towards her destruction. But as Barry and Nora track down the Forces, it becomes clear just how far the Speed Force will go to eliminate the competition.

Initially suggesting performing tests on suspected conduit Alexa Rivera without her consent, reasoning that the ends justify the means, both Barry and Iris are uncomfortable with the increasingly morally questionable decisions Nora is making and how emotionally obsessed she is in hunting the Forces. The Flash convinces Alexa to undergo the testing at S.T.A.R. Labs of her own free will, with Alexa eager to overcome the issues the Strength Force is causing her. As soon as the tests confirm Alexa's identity as Fuerza, though, Nora quickly takes matters into her own hands by seemingly killing Alex with Speed Force lightning after threatening Iris and goading Barry into allowing her to steal a portion of his speed. Shocked at what they have just failed to prevent, Barry faces a demand from Nora to pick a side in the coming Force War.

Nora quickly made it clear, even before her murderous intentions were revealed, that she was a different iteration of the Speed Force that Barry had interacted with before. More inquisitive about human nature and eager to help, Nora took a dark turn whenever the Forces were involved. And with the Speed Force's heel turn, the antagonist is the most powerful Team Flash has faced yet, not only able possessing super-speed, but also potentially exceeding Barry's speed due to her very nature as the fuel for super-speed in the Arrowverse.

Once again, Team Flash has inadvertently worked with a speedster figure that has been exposed as a twisted threat. With the Speed Force wearing a familiar face and initially eager to work alongside Team Flash, Barry and Iris were completely blindsided by the entity as Nora murdered a rival Force simply looking for help in treating her condition. And with Barry unlikely to let Nora run free and kill the other Forces, the Scarlet Speedster is squaring up for another high-speed showdown.
