The Flash Reveals Killer Frost's Sad Fate | CBR - CBR - Comic Book Resources

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The Flash Season 7, Episode 8, "The People v. Killer Frost," which aired Tuesday on The CW.

If there's any member of Team Flash that has had the most complicated character arc, it's Killer Frost. Starting out as the repressed, malevolent alternate personality of Caitlin Snow, Frost made her full Arrowverse introduction, after being teased on the parallel world of Earth-2, following the wholesale changes to reality caused by Barry Allen's tampering with the timeline. And while trying to atone her supervillain actions, having since been physically separated from Caitlin in her own body, Frost decides to answer for her past crimes on her own terms, resulting in her leaving Team Flash for good.

After initially joining Savitar to menace Team Flash, Frost began working alongside the Arrowverse heroes, including playing a prominent role in several crossover events to save reality. Caitlin and Frost eventually saw themselves as sisters sharing the same body, each with their own distinct personalities and sharing time on who got to exert control. However, during a confrontation with Mirror Master at the start of Season 7, Caitlin and Frost inadvertently split into completely separate beings, with Caitlin now completely stripped of her forms while Frost was physically formed by the metagenes themselves.

An overly zealous law enforcement official named Kristen Kramer came to Central City in the wake of Mirror Master's attack, looking to put on a firm stance against metahuman criminal activity, with the support of the federal government backing her. Initially suspecting Frost of murders revealed to be committed by the new supervillain Chillblaine, Kramer persisted to hunt Frost even after the reformed metahuman's name was cleared. This resulted in Frost deciding to stop running from her own villainous past, turning herself in to the authorities and skipping a trial by agreeing to plead guilty entirely of her own free will.

The matter was further complicated when Kramer was not satisfied by a proposed lengthy jail sentence and pushed to use a metahuman cure to negate Frost's powers entirely. She privately hoped this move would set a legal precedent where all future metahuman criminals would receive a similar sentence, with her obsessive vendetta fueled by losing a squad under her command to a metahuman. Arguing that her powers were a key part of who she is, Frost successfully petitioned the court for a life imprisonment without possibility of parole, bidding one last farewell to Caitlin as she was led out of the courtroom to begin her life behind bars.

The Flash Killer Frost Season 6

While a depowered Caitlin is still with Team Flash, she is visibly shaken by what has become of her sister. Frost had been decidedly working for the side of angels and redeeming for her past for years now, but, in the face of one dogged special investigator, the former supervillain grew tired of running. The door is always open for Team Flash to secure a temporary release for Frost in the future, but with the legal caveat that she will always have to return behind bars -- barring a presidential pardon. And judging by how serenely Frost accepted her fate, she is fine with this outcome as Team Flash loses another major character in Season 7.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
