Arrowverse: Flash's Closest Friends, Ranked | CBR - CBR - Comic Book Resources

With the show's eighth season fast approaching, The Flash has become the longest-running Arrowverse show by a Central City mile. And across the over 150 episodes of the series, the Fastest Man Alive has made a lot of friends, but not everyone is as close to the Flash as they may want to be.

In truth, Barry Allen has a pretty small group that he considered close friends. It can even be argued that the newer members of Team Flash— Chunk and Allegra— aren't really Barry's pals just yet, but in time they are sure to become people the Scarlet Speedster truly loves. In the meantime, the Flash's friends are getting harder to find.

10 With Each Wells, Barry Kept More & More Distance

The Council of Harrisons Harrison Wells Multiverse The Flash Tv Show Season 4

After the revelation that the man everyone knew as Harrison Wells was actually Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash in the first season of the series, Barry always had a little trouble trusting the different versions of Wells that came from the multiverse.

In time, Barry learned to accept that these men were not responsible for his mother's murder, but he still kept himself emotionally distant from them. Barry trusted the many members of the Council of Wells for their minds, but he never became as close to them as he was with the first Wells.

9 Kid Flash Is Family, But The Two Speedsters Are Very Different

Wally West Kid Flash

The long unknown brother of Iris West and son of Joe West, Wally West came into Barry Allen's life and proved himself to be a valuable partner. As Kid Flash, Wally tapped into the Speed Force in ways Barry never imagined, and through their different takes on their powers, Wally and Barry became very different heroes.

Wally has gone off to better understand the spirituality of the Speed Force, and of life itself. And while Barry loves him like a brother, he and Wally will never be as close as either one of them may want.

8 Elongated Man Had The Makings Of A Great Friend

The Flash Elongated Man

It seemed like the writers of Flash had planned for Barry and Ralph Dibny to become great friends, just like they are in the comics. The two heroes got along well, and with each of them having a background in law enforcement, they had a lot in common.

Sadly, a series of old tweets by actor Hartley Sawyer, who played Elongated Man, led to him being written off the show. What the future may have held for the growing friendship between Ralph and Barry will remain a mystery unless the role is recast.

7 Cecile Horton Will Always Be There, But There Is A Distance Between Them

Danielle Nicolet As Cecile Horton on Flash

In some ways, Cecile Horton is Barry Allen's step-mom. The longtime girlfriend of Joe West, Cecile has become someone that Barry and Iris not only love and respect, but rely on when they need help.

Still, a grown man can only be so close to his adoptive father's girlfriend, and that is about as close as Barry and Cecile are now. He knows she will always be there for him, and she knows he'll always be there for her, but Barry won't be turning to Cecile for life advice anytime soon.

6 Supergirl Is His Sister From Another World

Supergirl and The Flash in Worlds Finest

For Supergirl, Flash was the first person she ever met from another Earth in the multiverse. The two heroes quickly formed a friendship and came to trust one another in ways only superheroes can understand.

To Kara, Barry was a friend who understood the pressures of being a hero. For Barry, Kara was someone who could quite literally keep up with him. Together, the two became a nearly unstoppable force for good, which was quite useful in the crossover days of Invasion! and Crisis on Earth-X.

5 Green Arrow Was His First Team-Up

Arrowverse fans were first introduced to Barry Allen when he appeared on the second season of Arrow. From there, Barry went off to become the Flash and get his own show, but the connection between Barry and Oliver Queen was never broken.

Barry looked to Oliver as something akin to an older brother, turning to Star City's hero for advice when he needed it. To Ollie, Barry was a symbol of a new tomorrow; a time when heroes wouldn't need to go to the extremes he did. Together, Green Arrow and Flash built a television legacy.

4 Caitlin Snow Knows His Body

The Flash Caitlin Snow

Caitlin Snow only came to know Barry Allen after the crime scene investigator was struck by the lightning bolt and doused in the chemicals that turned him into Flash, but the two quickly became close friends.

Not only is Caitlin someone Barry confides in regularly, but she is also his attending physician, meaning that she understands the inner workings of his very unusual body and metabolism better than anyone else in the world. And as much as Caitlin is there for Barry, she knows that he is there for her as well.

3 Cisco Ramon Was His Best Friend Until He Wasn't

Like Caitlin, Cisco Ramon met Barry only after the particle accelerator explosion, but the two men of science soon became close friends after Barry woke from his coma. It is undeniable that for a time, Cisco and Barry were best friends.

The friendship became strained after Barry revealed that he had gone back in time and changed things, and in doing so, caused the death of Cisco's brother. While the two men continued to be friends and work together, Cisco was never able to fully forgive Barry for what he had done, and the two best friends grew apart.

2 Joe West Is More Than A Father Figure

When Barry's mother was murdered and his father was imprisoned for it, it was Joe West who took the young boy in. Joe was there to raise Barry and make him into the man that would become Flash.

And while there is a father-son bond between Joe and Barry, the two don't just love one another, they like each other. Just as often as Barry goes to Joe for advice, Joe turns to him. The two men depend on each other greatly and to Barry, there is almost no one he trusts more.

1 Iris West Was, Is, And Always Will Be The Person Barry Trusts Most

Barry and Iris in costume in The Flash Season 7 finale

Barry Allen has loved Iris West since they were children, and as with the comics, the romance of these two characters is at the heart of The Flash. No one is more important to Barry, and there is no one he trusts more than Iris West. In turn, Barry has been someone who has stood by Iris' side for just about as long as she can remember.

No one has had more confidence and faith in Iris than Barry has. These two are a duo in every sense of the word, and while some fans were annoyed by Iris' claim, what she said was very much true, together they are the Flash.
