The Flash may have just found its Elongated Man replacement: Fuerza (Sara Garcia). A void was left on Barry Allen’s team when Ralph Dibney actor Hartley Sawyer was fired ahead of season 7. As a result, the character was abruptly written out of the show.
The Flash season 7 has now aired nine episodes, and no additional superheroes have been added to the team in Ralph’s stead. This could be part of the reason why it became necessary for Cisco (Carlos Valdez) to start suiting up as Mecha-Vibe. When fighting metahumans in season 7, Barry (Grant Gustin) has mostly relied on assistance from Cisco and Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker). However, Frost has since been taken off the table for the time being. The character was recently sentenced to life in prison, and it’s unclear if or when her situation will change. Allegra (Kayla Compton) is still around, but she still spends most of her time with Team Citizen, not Team Flash.
The Flash season 7, episode 9, titled “Timeless”, seemingly set up a new hero taking Ralph’s spot on the team. The chosen avatar of the Strength Force, Alexa Rivera, was murdered by the human embodiment of the Speed Force in episode 8, but it looks like her story isn’t over just yet. After reaching a revelation about their connection to the other forces, Barry and Iris (Candace Patton) resurrected Alexa. What happened next wasn’t shown, but a promo for episode 10 teased Team Flash training Alexa in how to properly control the Strength Force.
Since the Speed Force still plans on ridding the world of all three forces, Alexa’s life will continue to be in danger in The Flash season 7. For that reason, it makes perfect sense that she’ll have to remain with Team Flash for a while and learn how to use her new powers. Barry has plenty of experience when it comes to being bonded with a cosmic force, which means he can work with her to develop a better understanding of the Strength Force, and perhaps the others as well.
Similar to what happened with Ralph, it could be that after training with Barry, Alexa will end up going into action and fighting by his side against metahuman villains. If that happens, Alexa could grow into a new Arrowverse superhero. After all, her DC Comics counterpart is a hero as well. If she discovers that this is the life she wants, her presence on Team Flash could become long-term. That could be good for Barry and the others, especially since the super strength she possesses as Fuerza would certainly be a major asset to them in battle. With Cisco leaving at the end of the season and Elongated Man gone for good, Barry may be in need of a new superhero partner who can help him save Central City whenever a new threat arises.
