The Flash: Every Character Missing From Episode 150 | Screen Rant - Screen Rant

WARNING: SPOILERS for The Flash season 7, episode 17, "Heart of the Matter, Part 1".

While several characters came back for the 150th episode of The Flash, a few cast members from previous seasons were absent. One of Arrowverse's longest-running shows is The Flash, which recently became the second series to reach 150 episodes after Arrow season 7. It was only two seasons ago when the series celebrated its 100th episode during season 5. It's a big step to hit 100 installments of a television series because not every show manages to get there. In addition to that, it's not always a guarantee to get far enough to hit 150 or 200 episodes.

The Flash season 7 got to the show's 150th episode while also serving as the first part of the double-sized season finale. After making his debut in the previous episode, Jordan Fisher's Bart West-Allen was given a bigger spotlight in "Heart of the Matter, Part 1." Joined by his sister Nora West-Allen, a.k.a. XS, the future speedsters came to 2021 to help their parents stop Godspeed once and for all. While the West-Allen kids were a big focus of the milestone, Jay Garrick and Joan Williams also returned for the first time since The Flash season 6, episode 2, "A Flash of Lightning."

Even though Carlos Valdes had his farewell earlier this season, Cisco Ramon, a.k.a. Mecha-Vibe, came back to Central City to help Team Flash. There are still many prominent characters from past seasons of The Flash that didn't make it for the 150th episode, despite the many returns that fans got. It could be related to actor availability or budget restrictions, as there was already a lot going on in the story.

Wally West/Kid Flash

While The Flash's 150th episode revolved heavily around the West-Allen family, one major speedster was absent: Wally West, a.k.a. Kid Flash. When Barry was trying to recruit more speedsters to help stop Godspeed, Gideon references Wally as being in deep meditation and dealing with things on the psychic plane. Wally even got brought up by Bart, referencing how his uncle helped Impulse master his speed in the future. Given that "Heart of the Matter, Part 1" was primarily about the Flash Family, Kid Flash should have been part of the story. It's possible they tried to get Keiynan Lonsdale back for a guest spot, but maybe he wasn't available. Lonsdale was cast earlier this year in the third season of Starz's Step Up, which may have prevented him from appearing on The Flash. Hopefully, if Bart and Nora are in The Flash season 8, Wally will get to show up at least once to meet his future nephews.

Jesse Quick

Another speedster who didn't participate in the 150th episode was Jesse Quick. The last time Violett Beane appeared was in The Flash season 4 before the actress was cast as the lead of CBS' God Friended Me. However, Jesse's status has been in a weird state since The Flash season 6 after the Anti-Monitor destroyed the original version of Earth-2. Despite Earth-2 having been recreated as the home for Stargirl, Jesse's whereabouts didn't get addressed after Crisis on Infinite Earths. The Flash's 150th episode would have been the ideal story to bring Jesse back because it's hard to imagine The Flash killing her off-screen. Even if Beane was unavailable, it would have been fun just to hear Bart and Nora reference Jesse as being part of their lives somehow in 2049. That way, it would set up Jesse's potential return down the line while honoring her role within The Flash.

Original Harrison Wells

Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells and Still Force in The Flash Season 7

Tom Cavanagh has been part of The Flash since the very beginning and portrayed multiple versions of Harrison Wells. Like Valdes, Cavanagh ended his run on The Flash as a series regular, even though he can always come back down the line. With "Heart of the Matter, Part 1" being the 150th episode, it was a little strange not seeing Cavanagh involved at all. Since the original Harrison Wells was resurrected in The Flash season 7, he played a small role within the New Forces storyline. Despite being somewhere in his timeline, it would have been intriguing to see him present in some capacity.

Sue Dearbon

It's understandable why Ralph Dibny, a.k.a. Elongated Man, had no involvement with The Flash's 150th episode. However, where was Sue Dearbon during the Godspeed storyline? Sue recently came back to Central City and is seemingly still around as she was reconnecting with her family. So it was strange how Natalie Dreyfuss wasn't part of the episode whatsoever or referenced. Although, it would not be shocking at all if Sue and her parents were evacuating Central City along with other citizens due to the Godspeed clones causing so much chaos.

Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash

Reverse Flash unmasked as Harrison Wells.

While Cavanagh has played many versions of Harrison, another character of his was absent from the 150th episode: Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash. Since The Flash season 6, his status has been unclear after they removed Eobard's consciousness from Nash's body. It's obvious that Reverse-Flash is still out there somewhere because he will always be part of Barry's life. Eobard is only mentioned in "Heart of the Matter, Part 1," when Bart defines Godspeed as being his own Thawne in the future.

This might have been the result of something Cavanagh said in an interview earlier this year. After exiting The Flash as a full-time cast member, Cavanagh described how he sees Reverse-Flash coming back for the show's final season, whenever that might be. Perhaps the reason Reverse-Flash had nothing to do with the 150th episode because they want to save Eobard's big (and maybe final) return for The Flash's last season.

Regardless, given how instrumental Eobard has been in Barry's life since the beginning, it only felt inevitable that his arch-enemy would somehow take part in the 150th episode. It would have also been interesting to see Reverse-Flash's reaction to someone like Godspeed, as they would likely not be on the same side. Despite the missing characters, The Flash's 150th episode lived up to the hype and set up what looks to be an incredible season 7 finale.
