The National Weather Service in Boulder warns of monsoon conditions making their way across the west and impacting Colorado on Friday. Across the Four Corners, over 23 million people are in the area of concern, where quick heavy rain can fall, flooding low-lying areas and canyons.

Denver will reach 94 degrees under mostly sunny skies on Friday, the NWS forecasts. A breezy day will have gusts reach as high as 25 mph, while there will be a 60% chance of showers. Thunderstorms are expected to develop after 7 p.m. and could pop up again overnight as temperatures dip to 67 degrees. Possible widespread coverage of thunderstorms is expected over higher terrain.
The stronger storms can produce heavy rain, which may lead to flash flooding in the Cameron Peak, East Troublesome, Calwood, and Williams Fork burn areas. There’s a flash flood watch for much of the high country in the central and western portions of the state.
The metro area is once again under a poor air quality alert issued for Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, and Weld counties.

Slow-moving thunderstorms are expected again this weekend on each day with a continued risk of flash flooding, especially on burn scars. The threat of flooding on the plains will be greater Sunday.
Downtown Saturday is forecasted to stay under 90 degrees for the first time in a while, with a high of 88 degrees. There’s a 50% chance of storms throughout the day, with 20 mph wind gusts and a low of 63 degrees.
There’s a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon. It will be mostly sunny, with a high of 90 degrees.
Highs could reach 100 degrees early next week.
