Ezra Miller's cameo in the Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths was a game-changing landmark for DC fans, and it's only logical for The Flash to pay it back. The CW's biggest crossover of DC titles went all out with its ambitious scope and cameos by iconic actors such as Burt Ward as Earth-66 Robin, Tom Welling as Earth-167 Clark Kent, and Kevin Conroy as Earth-99 Bruce Wayne. It coincided with a moment when the fate of the DCEU was unknown, given that the poor performance of Justice League scrapped Zack Snyder's original plans.
Now that the DCEU is getting back on its feet with the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League and the announcement of upcoming movies like The Batman and Black Adam, the arrival of the DC multiverse to the big screen is closer than ever before. Naturally, the movie that will focus on the topic of different realities is Andy Muschietti's The Flash, which will have Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) traveling in time and across dimensions. So far, Michael Keaton's Batman is expected to return, along with Ben Affleck's Batman and a yet-unspecified number of characters from past famous DC movies.
DC fans have already gotten the first taste of such an event when Grant Gustin's Barry Allen bumped into Ezra Miller's Barry Allen during Crisis on Infinite Earths. The encounter was brief, but it quickly became the most talked-about scene in the entire crossover. What's most interesting about this moment wasn't only that it marked the very first interaction between the big-budget movies and the TV shows, but also that the possibility of a bigger crossover event is closer than anybody had thought. The first meeting between both Barry Allens presents a crucial turning point for The Flash. More than a disservice, it would be inconsistent for The Flash not to include the scene in some way.
After their initial shock and a quick chat about their costumes, Ezra Miller's Barry Allen mentions "I told Victor this was possible," (alluding to Ray Fisher's Cyborg and his role in the upcoming movie) which suggests that the encounter with his Arrowverse counterpart is his first exposure to multiple realities. This could even be the moment that kicks off the events of The Flash, as the multiverse is its main appeal. Barry Allen's revelation needs to tie into his own trip through alternate realities, and what better way to include it than showing the same scene from Ezra Miller's perspective? After all, it's actually the way Ezra Miller's DCEU Barry Allen got the name "The Flash" in the first place.
Including Grant Gustin in The Flash movie would also acknowledge the existence of every alternate Earth revealed in Crisis on Infinite Earths without the need to show them all onscreen. Therefore, John Wesley Shipp's Barry Allen from Earth-90 would be more closely related to the DCEU, as well as beloved Arrowverse characters like Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), Black Lightning (Cress Williams), Stargirl (Brec Bassinger), all of the heroes from Legends of Tomorrow, and all of the heroes from Titans, just to name a few. The Arrowverse also featured Brandon Routh's Superman, making Christopher Reeve's Superman an active figure in the multiverse, too. Although not impossible, bringing Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) back to life for a cameo is a bit unlikely, but The Flash still has lots of Arrowverse characters to choose from.
The DCEU has the upper hand over the MCU in regards to the multiverse due to the vast amount of material from different media it can use. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can achieve something similar if it acknowledges Netflix's Marvel shows. Spider-Man 3 may also feature previous live-action Spider-Men, but Marvel still doesn't have the massive gallery of alternate-reality properties that DC has. The Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths event gave The Flash a huge headstart. The DCEU must not waste it.
