Superman Returns star Brandon Routh addresses whether he could return in The Flash movie - Digital Spy

DC's The Flash movie, starring Ezra Miller, is already shaping up to be an exciting journey through time for Batman fans.

Ben Affleck is already confirmed to be reprising his role as the caped crusader, while Batman Returns star Michael Keaton will be donning the cowl once again too.

But while we now know that the movie will feature (at least) two different versions of Batman, does this mean there could be an opportunity for various incarnations of Superman to make an appearance in the film too?

Well, speaking to the Geek House Show, DC's Legends of Tomorrow star Brandon Routh, who also played Superman in 2006's Superman Returns, discussed the possibility of putting on the red cape again.

"I mean yeah I think that's always a possibility," Brandon said.

"Of course, they're bringing in Michael Keaton, which I'm excited about. And some other people from the past DC projects. I think it's very exciting."

Routh recently reprised his role as Superman in the CW 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' crossover event, which he said he was "proud and honoured" to do.

"It worked really well in 'Crisis On Infinite Earths', and I was extremely proud and honoured to be a part of it and to reprise my Superman," he added.

"So it's absolutely a possibility – you can do anything! Everybody lives and dies all the time in those things."

Speaking earlier this year at the DC FanDome event, The Flash producer Barbara Muschietti teased that the upcoming film will "restart everything".

"What I will tell you is that it's a ride," she said. "It's going to be fun and exciting and there are a lot of DC characters in it. Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines.

"And in a way, it restarts everything and doesn't forget anything."

The Flash is currently scheduled for release in cinemas on July 1, 2022.
