A new report indicates that an important step was taken with the release of Microsoft Edge 88. This version posted on Canary no longer supports updates to Flash Player components. The browser is expected to hit the beta channel on December 7th, while the stable version is expected six weeks later on January 21st. “After December 2020, you will no longer receive a security update for Adobe Flash Player. This applies to all of our Microsoft Edge Legacy and Internet Explorer 11 browsers. As of January 2021, Adobe Flash Player will be disabled by default and all versions older than KB4561600 and released in June 2020 will be blocked. Adobe Flash Player downloadable resources hosted on Microsoft websites are no longer available. “
