BLACKPINK Makes U.S. Television Debut on 'Late Show' - Billboard

K-pop girl group BLACKPINK performed for the first time on American television tonight (Feb. 12). The quartet appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where they performed their hit single "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du."

Upon its release as the single off of BLACKPINK's Square Up EP last year, "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" became their first song on the Hot 100 singles chart, where it debuted at No. 55. They are allegedly set to release a new EP in March.

The performance was preceded by the news of the girl group announcing the North American tour dates for their 2019 In Your Area world tour. The act performed for the first time in the U.S. last week during Universal Music's annual Grammy Artist Showcase event; the group signed onto a partnership with UMG and Interscope last year. In April, they will become the first K-pop idol group to appear during both weekends of Coachella 2019.

BLACKPINK is the second K-pop girl group ever to appear on Stateside late night television. The Late Show, then hosted by David Letterman, introduced Girls' Generation and their English rendition of "The Boys" to U.S. audiences back in 2012.

While the show was airing, the hashtag "BLACKPINKonLSSC" trending worldwide as fans waited in anticipation. The Late Show's twitter account had fun engaging with the girl group's fan army BLINK throughout the night.
